Picture 1The photo this month is a view across the city of Peja in the west of Kosova, which nestles at the foot of the Rugova Mountains that lead through to Montenegro. Peja is a city with many needs. The population is now made up of mainly ethnic Albanians who are mainly Muslim. There was much suffering in this city during the time of the war, as Serbian forces came in, driving the Albanians out. Most families you speak to lost somebody. There has been a huge amount of rebuilding going on in the years since the war, though some houses remain ruins. But though there has been much progress in rebuilding houses, the task of rebuilding lives continues, as ongoing poverty and hardship are realities for so many. There are Christians serving there in various ways, seeking to do good to the city and encourage one another to live as salt and light. There are not many of them but they are faithful.
